Showcasing a whole new dimension at Chester Zoo

Wild Worlds at Chester Zoo

Taking inspiration from the worlds or science, art and nature, we helped Chester Zoo to name, brand and promote its one of a kind summer festival which would see some of Chester Zoo’s favourite spaces turned into immersive worlds inspired by the incredible work of the conservationists, scientists and amazing wildlife at the zoo.

Based on the festival’s unique mix of art and wildlife, we developed the brand campaign concept – ‘let your imagination roam wild.’ Designed to appeal to a range of different audiences from fun loving families to independent adult explorers, the creative was developed to flex and communicate the variety of different events, activities and experiences that would be feature within the festival.
Working in collaboration with acclaimed paper artist Helen Musselwhite and Motion Design Agency Mighty Giant, we created a set of animated three dimensional, layered paper worlds, inspired by the work of the artists and collaborators who feature in the festival. The immersive paper scenes which were designed to invite the visitors to jump in and explore ‘a whole new dimension to Chester Zoo’.
Launched in May 2018, the campaign has ran throughout the region across television, outdoor and digital media. We also created a brand campaign toolkit which contained all the assets and guidance required for in-house teams and collaborators to successfully apply the brand across both paid for and owned marketing and communication channels, including a Wild Worlds microsite and onsite signage and wayfinding.

This is a festival that’s uniquely Chester Zoo. We’re collaborating with artists, performers, landscape designers, gardeners and scientists and so the campaign needed to reflect all of these elements. Edit_ and their collaborators really brought Wild Worlds to life and gave us a campaign concept to remember.
